The Somerset landscape may be the root inspiration for Christine’s work, but the results go far beyond what she originally sees and in doing so enter a different state altogether.
Christine’s exhibition of abstract representations of nature on canvas both Christine’s Sugar Cube exhibition took one into “a wild place devoid of human interference” with her “deeply elemental” prints. These are the words of the Sugar Cube founder and Teapot Creative director, Lizzie Ginbey, taken from her published at the time of the exhibition on the Teapot website.
Somerset based via various places along the way including time spent in Australia all feed into Christine’s work. Her paintings are either completed in her home studio or out in the landscape itself. The prints are made on a press belonging to a friend in the village of Baltonsborough near Glastonbury.
With no website to view her work for the time being the best place to find it is on the Featured Artists page of the SCAN (Somerset Contemporary Artists Network) website. We owe a debt of gratitude to SCAN for putting Christine in touch with us following our social media campaign to find artists.
