Lino, Etching and Wood Block Prints
This is an eclectic mix of art based around ink on paper! The cards, prints and originals are all produced using traditional methods of printing.
Lino cutting is beautifully graphical and simple in style and produces stunning block like prints which, when layered can produce wonderful depth and tone. Even as single colour prints they have a certain honesty which lends itself to cards very well.
Etching is completely the opposite and can be delicate and intricate which is fabulous for detailed subjects such as insects and animals. It is incredibly satisfying pushing the inlaglio printing ink into the scored lines on the perspex and then running it through a mangle on wet paper to get a good impression.
Wood block printing is very time consuming and physically harder work than lino or etching but the effects are glorious. The process is wonderful – watching the curls of wood fall away from the block. It produces a more rustic looking piece of art which translates beautifully as a card or limited run print.
